Lal Masjid Crisis Boils Over

The Lal Masjid crisis, which has proven to be quite a thorn in Musharraf’s side for the past six months, finally took an ugly turn today morning.

Even though the media channels are having yet another field day and declaring this a blot on Pakistan’s reputation (frankly I think its just another one in a whole patch of blots), the real story is still a bit hazy.

However, what has been confirmed is that students at the Lal Masjid opened fire on the Ranger’s posts set up near the mosque, primarily due to the fear of a Government operation. This resulted in retaliation from the Rangers and local Police in the form of tear-gas and firing as well.

The images that we are confronted with as a nation are those of many young men, clad in shalwar kameez’s but also in jeans and t-shirts, wearing state-of-the-art gas masks and firing with the most powerful weaponry!

On May 12, Karachi witnessed eaxctly how much ammunition is hidden from the eye but definitely possessed by a number of youths and political party workers. Once again we must bear witness to the fact that mere students can have access not only to efficient repeaters and rocket launchers, but also tear-gas masks.

I do not even know whether half of the people causing the chaos are part of Lal Masjid. AAJ TV showed footage of a group of around twenty lads, who looked nothing like the students of Lal Masjid, tearing down and burning the Ministry of Environment building.

It forces us to ask where are we headed? There is no need for us to worry about attacks from the US-we’re conveniently self-destructing courtesy another few May 12′ths and Lal Masjid episodes.

As if all of this information is not depressing enough, medical authorities have confirmed the death of 9 people including a Rangers officer, a reporter, a photojournalist, and a businessman. It has also been reported that 64 others were injured. Innocent people killed by stray crossfire.

It is obvious that we still have no regard for human life. There was much regret after the deaths of May 12 but yet again innocent Pakistanis have lost their lives for an unknown cause. The Government, and more specifically President Musharraf are silent, at least uptil now. One hopes that those responsible for yet another series of unnecessary deaths are brought to justice as swiftly as possible.

To tell you the truth these maulwis and Mowlana are the real termites in Pakistan. They will never let the country move forward, they have just manipulated islam and brainwashed everyone. The only solution is to get rid off all these mowlanas who commit crimes against humanity under the big beard. Do what Nasir did in egypt get rid of all of them. The govt needs to wake up they knew about this for three months never did anything. When will this corruption stop?

I just want to say that, when Lal Mosque operation started i thaught that only molanas of our country or in that mosque are involved in this blood shed. But now that he is dead and after listening to his last 15 minutes words along with the womens coming our from inside after the military operation and also listening to the point of view of the leaders of this Nation, i think both the Govt. and Molanas are equally involved in this blood shed and both should be punished. My heart as a true Pakistani & a true Muslim is Crying for this disaster. May God give our Nation peace. Aimen.

i am very sad about the current situation of pakistan.
we should think that what was the main cause of it.
the first cause is “removing islam from pakistan”.
1.hasfa bill, 2.removing of mosques and madrasas.
    3.fahashi on the channel.
    all are against islam.
we want progress but if the progress is in the way to go against islam so we have no need of such progress.
we want to go forward but with islam.
to bring peace in pakistan, it is must to go with islam, because we are muslim and we can’t bear that someone kill islam.
